Victoria Avenue became an impromptu helipad to allow an NRMA CareFlight trauma team to treat an injured motor bike rider at Castle Hill this afternoon.
Ambulance, police and NRMA CareFlight rushed to treat the cyclist following a “000” alert at 1.40 pm.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the 55-year-old rider, from Riverstone, crashed at a roundabout at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Salisbury Road and was briefly unconscious.
The man suffered a fractured leg, shoulder and head injuries in the crash.
Following stabilisation he was taken, under care of the NRMA CareFlight doctor, in a road ambulance to Westmead Hospital for emergency surgery.
