A Mortdale girl suffered a head injury which prompted a trauma team flight to Penshurst Girls High School today.
Ambulance paramedics, police and an NRMA CareFlight doctor rushed to the school shortly before 10 am.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the 16-year-old girl attempted to vault a fence with two other students but hit her head.
The impact left the girl initially unconscious.
The helicopter landed in a park beside the school to allow the NRMA CareFlight doctor, an emergency specialist, to work with paramedics in stabilising the girl.
She was taken in a road ambulance, under treatment by the doctor, to St George Hospital for observation where she was in a stable condition on arrival.
